I have a young friend who took off one day to Michigan to be with his girl, leaving his life in Alberta behind. What a romantic thing to do! It inspired me to write this song.
Players: Rick Garvin - vocals, guitars, bass

Running to meet her ©2008 Rick Garvin
1. I’m driving down the road in my trusty Chevrolet
The top is down the sun is shining on my face
Straight ahead, a new life waves its hand
And I’m running to meet it, as quickly as I can
2. I never expected to leave this old home town.
but the moment I saw her, I heard that siren sound
Now I’m gone, I won’t be back again
Cause I’m running to meet her as quickly as I can
Bridge
It’s not that the grass is greener ahead than behind
It’s just that my heart was stolen away and I have to find it or die.
But there’s a big world out there and my future close at hand
And I’m running to meet it, as quickly as I can
3. So I’m driving down the road in my trusty Chevrolet
the radio is blasting, a smile is on my face
Straight ahead, a new life waves her hand
And I’m running to meet her, as quickly as I can
Bridge
It’s not that the grass is greener ahead than behind
It’s just that my heart was stolen away and I have to find it or die.
But there’s a big world out there and my future close at hand
And I’m running to meet it, as quickly as I can
yes, I’m running to meet her, as quickly as I can
